2013-6-8

South Africa's National Jobs Fund and Microsoft on Friday signed a contract of 29.2 million U.S. dollars to create 3,000 jobs for IT related graduates over the next three years.

According to a report from the local Business Report, the global software developer will operate this project with the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), which will manage the money from the Nation Jobs Fund.
Students, majoring in information and communications technology, can get a one-year Microsoft internship financed by the project, and 75 percent of the beginners will become full-time employees in the end, Microsoft South Africa's Managing Director Mteto Nyati said.
South Africa was among the world's top list for high unemployment rate, and the student training and hiring programs has been the tools of Microsoft to foster relationship with government agencies.
At the end this month, U.S. President Barack Obama will visit South Africa and other African countries. Last week, Google launched an investment in the African biggest economy's clean energy project.
