Nissan may build leaf electric cars in Guangdong

  Nissan Motor Co, Japan's second- largest automaker, may build Leaf electric vehicles in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, according to a government statement. Nissan's Chinese joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group Co may invest 2 billion yuan ï¼?322 millionï¼ on the project, the National Development and Reform Commission's Guangdong branch said on its website. According to the statement, the plan calls for initial capacity of 10,000 Leaf vehicles a year and 50,000 after 2015 - comparable to Nissan's UK and Japan plants.
